Is Justin Bieber Really Retiring?

2013 has certainly been a wild year for Justin Bieber … but was all the drama enough to push the superstar into early retirement?

During an interview with L.A.'s Power 106 on Tuesday, Justin exclaimed his upcoming album, "Journals," would be his last.

"I'm actually, uh, I'm retiring man, I'm retiring, yeah," said the 19-year-old. "I think I'm probably going to quit music."

Sources close to Bieber insisted yesterday the singer was "joking."

However, Justin's manager, Scooter Braun, admitted on Wednesday he would like the singer to take time away from the spotlight once his film "Believe" hits theaters on Christmas.

"I’m telling him after this movie, I want him to take next year off and just take a break," Braun noted during an interview on KIIS FM's "On Air With Ryan Seacrest." "He can still live in the studio and work on the next album, which is what he wants to do, but I just want him to take some time to himself, so he can have that time alone, cause he’s been working since he was 12 years old."

Braun also noted that the film, "Believe," will address the controversy that has followed Justin this year.

"Over the last nine months, Justin got into trouble sometimes — a few times — and we started seeing this thing going on, of just the press over and over again got into a place where they could get away with anything," Scooter explained. "And there’s a point where you just can’t respond to every single rumor, so we just had to let it go. I could sit there and address every single one, but it was ridiculous so we decided with this movie we are going to address it all at once.

"Our director Jon Chu sat down with Justin for a three-hour interview and asked him really hard questions … and we decided instead of running away from the issue, we are just going to go after it head-on," continued Braun.

The world premiere of "Believe" is tonight in Los Angeles, so it's likely Justin will clarify that "retire" comment for all those Beliebers out there.

Yeah, Beiber, take that break...that one or two years. Everything is going according to plan. One year in teenage girl time is like 20 regular years. They won't even know you exist when you come back and you'll be struggling to headline disgusting, dirty nightclubs. I remember back in the day, New Kids on the Block were at the top of their game, playing STADIUMS, and they decided to take a one year break to enjoy the money they had made. When they came back in 1994, they were only selling out 2000 capacity, standing room only, night clubs. The teenage girls who think you hang the moon today will be embarrassed by your joke of a name tomorrow. Take the break, Biebs...take it. :-D

If he takes a year long break, his career will not survive. His little Beliebers will move on to other teen idols. Of course, if this is just another P.R. stunt...

Retiring? From what? He doesn't do anything. But if the kid had a brain he would take a year off and get his #$%$ together. Rehab being first list. And then associate with a better crowd of people. Justin...you might want to take note of wildly popular successful singers like Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jr.
Both will be around long after you have become the next has been.

Don't you have to have a job to retire? Does anyone think what this unfortunate byproduct of the record labels has created is an employee?

(In my view this kid was created by the dynamic - a parental failure. You only become this, it isn't intrinsic.) He does some good things actually, then he short circuits and thinks he's a hoodlum. Shame really.
