Chief dies mysteriously in guest house

Kisii, KENYA: Residents of Ogembo town in Gucha are in shock after an assistant chief was found dead at a guest house on Saturday night.
Mangere sub location assistant chief Peter Getanda, 54, reportedly collapsed and died while sleeping at the guest house. He was reportedly in the company of a woman at the time of the incident.
Workers at the guest house said the assistant chief took supper and retired for the night after a few drinks before his death at around midnight.
“We are not suspecting foul play but investigations have been launched. A post mortem examination will be conducted to help identify the cause of death,” said Ng’etich.
Police visited the scene and moved the body to Hema Hospital mortuary as distraught relatives thronged the guest house struggling to come to terms with the death.
“We still can’t believe the assistant chief is no more. He was in good spirits when he left his home and it was a shock when we got the call informing us about his demise,” said a relative.
The deceased who formerly worked at Gucha County Council has been in the provincial administration for the last 10 years.Police are still searching for the woman who escaped after calling the deceased’s family members.
