Nchanga appoints assistant coach

NCHANGA Rangers Football Club has appointed former NAPSA Stars assistant coach Evans Sakala as Fighton Simukonda’s assistant.
Simukonda, the Under-23 national team head coach as well as senior national team assistant coach, has been working with Elijah Tana as assistant since Albert Kachinga left to join Red Arrows last year.
Rangers president Blackwell Siwale confirmed the development in an interview, saying the move was necessitated following Simukonda’s national commitments which left Tana acting alone.
Siwale said Sakala would be Simukonda’s first assistant while Tana would be second assistant.
“Yes, it’s true we have engaged Evans on a three-year contract. We need to beef up the technical bench. As you are aware the head coach Mr [Fighton] Simukonda has got assignments with the Under-23 and the senior national team, so we thought it will increase the depth of the technical bench,” said Siwale.
“No one can take anything away from Evans. He is a qualified coach, and even as a former professional footballer...he brings a lot of experience to the team with regard to coaching and you will appreciate that Evans is the one who brought NAPSA from Division One to premier and we think he is got the qualities that we need on the technical bench.”
Meanwhile, former international defender Israel Mwanza is new assistant coach at Forest Rangers.
